Im Lektorat beschäftige ich mich – klar! – mit Sprache, also mit Wörtern und Buchstaben. Aber wie steht es mit der Schreibung von Zahlen? Auch das gehört zur Stimmigkeit eines Textes.
Soll man Zahlen in Ziffern oder in Buchstaben schreiben?
Viele werden beim Schreiben eine alte Buchdruckerregel im Kopf haben, die besagt, dass die Zahlen von 1 bis 12 in Buchstaben und die Zahlen ab 13 in Ziffern zu schreiben seien. Diese Regel gilt nicht mehr. Aber es gilt genauer hinzugucken.
Was soll ausgedrückt werden?
Ist die Zahl an sich bzw. ihr Wert von großer Bedeutung, wie es oft in Sportartikeln, Statistiken, Studien oder wissenschaftlichen Texten der Fall ist, dann werden die Zahlen, auch die von 1 bis 12, meistens als Ziffern schrieben.
